A Spring To Wellness

Zooom...we have already passed through 31 days of the first month of 2008. It is really fast...though I still felt very much of early 2008.

Tomorrow, it is the first day of February, a leap month/year as it will have 29 days but still my company will not give me extra for working additional 24 hours..I believe the same goes to you all...but for towkeh...they have an additional profits due to this additional day...may be we should call it "The Boss's Day" for 29/2/2008 as we all worked extra day free without charges for our employers.

Spring cleaning with the word "spring" signifies the cleaning in welcoming the spring celebration/festival as it is our Chinese's customary practices to carry out extensive house/factory/office cleaning to ensure we could embrace more luck to our life, the places that we always spend our life.

I am still doing my spring cleaning in stages...huh..quite busy over the last few weeks.

Many of my friends will be off starting tomorrow especially those from KL as it is a public holiday tomorrow as it is City Day Celebration and then they will just take their holidays through next week.

How I wish I could have the luxury to do so... and for now...I have to rush for my production dateline...

We need "Old Photos"

We are collecting as many photographs possible for our Chairman to do some magic shows...especially those from other classes apart from 5S2 and 5S3 as Pat and myself are from the mentioned classes respectively.

Though I have asked Joe Sia, Ivy, Thadeus, Suhardy to help out but those of you may have the extras...I hope you do not mind to extend to Pat's email.

The above photo was taken in 1988's teacher's day...I was not inside because I was the photographer...I guess...hehehe..could not remember much though (anybody know which classroom this photo was taken ?)

It's 5588 !

After almost a week of silence (as Heroes & I were busy on our business meetings, engagements etc), yesterday alone, we have secured another 4 confirmation pledges of donation for SHS8890 Alumni Donation Fund amounted to RM2088 with one biggest donor at RM1,000.00 and another RM888.00.

The quest continues....as we hope to raise as much funds as possible for this good cause...please help to spread this news.

MBA for SHS 8890 Alumni Dinner in 14 days

Haloooo....boys and girls

In less than two weeks, we Must Be Available for our grand 20th reunion (8th February 2008, 6.30p.m at Paramount Hotel, Sibu) and there must other thought of not going but just be present at the grand night.

For the OC, our preparation for the night is progressing well ranging from contacting, persuading and some even "begging to attract" our friends to attend the dinner beside getting our teachers to be there for this memorable events.

Those of you who are still not decided on whether attending this great dinner as may have been waiting for CM's confirmation (as many have posed such question to me), I would like to affirm that he is not coming as we are not going to allow any election votes gathering here....except for our Chairmanship Election 2009. There are few contenders and I guess it will be a close fight this year :)

Hey, I am still maintaining earlier offer for following lucky two,

a) Heroes - free air ticket and accomodation for two if he brings his NAP girlfriend to this reunion dinner (Please do not bring NSA partner)
b) Hansac - I will pay for all the 3 tickets for all his 3 wives if he brings them all (must bring marriage certs for verification...:) )

One bonus offer...which is for Warhammer....if he dares to come and announce freely and personally up on the stage...a warm 'H' from Ivy. Hehehehehe...

(I will update further on the progress and some highlights of the programme...)

SHS 8890 Alumni School Fund

Guys/Gals

Both Heroes and myself are very happy today especially receiving some good news from several schoolmates who had confirmed their sponsorship/donations/contribution to the above fund. May be today is 18th ! Yat Fatt ! (Hehehe !)

As Heroes relates to me with delight on one sponsor that he will give RM500.00 for both his wife and himself without much thinking, my heart also leaped up joyfully with this touching support.

Meanwhile, another sponsor also just SMS me 5 minutes ago asking : is RM300.00 enough or not. My reply to him is : Thanks a lot. Please pass the money on the Reunion Night. There is no limit but must be sincere. He immediately replied...ok and I am very sincere..

Just within an hour we have gathered another RM1,000.00 sponsorship and adding to our earlier collection of RM1,000.00...we have surpassed our initial target.

My sharing on this blog is not on whether there is a participation to the contribution or not and definitely not towards whether the amount is big or not....but what I like to share is the HEART of LOVE whereby all these contributors (our schoolmates) have poured/chipped in to contribute a little portion to our Alma Mater and hopefully our sincere contribution will help further our juniors to achieve better results that their older seniors.

Whether big or small, it is all goodwill and all are welcome...

"Nian Man San Net Puo"

Chinese New Year Eve is just another 20 days from now. How is the preparation for the coming new year ? I guess some may have started early but many including myself is so-so...probably after this weekend, many will be on "heat".

Many may still waiting for the big fat bonuses from their taukey whom may on the other hand try to push to a later date.

The OC for Reunion Dinner is also getting more excited in updating the latest attendance list as we move nearer to our 20th Reunion Dinner which falls on 2nd day of CNY.

We will be meeting up just before the family reunion dinner to ensure all arrangement are OKs.

$$$$$$$

Coming back to the new year preparation, I do observe that the traffic in Kuching has started to increase as we travel through the city. This is norm as the time goes nearer to the festival day. In Sibu, it would be even more interesting as usually those working outside town will return back to attend the traditional family reunion dinner...including myself and I will be driving back this year together with my "Sa hia" and his family. Which day ? no sure yet as this year, my Rachel is in Primary One so we need to follow her school schedule.

Hey, must update the family photo like usually my Malay's friends over in Kuching, they have really big big family photo session...talking about 100 or more at the Dewan...so far I have not heard such in Sibu for one single family (anyone doing it ?)

@@@@

New Year Visitation : Must go merry go round this year to visit more relatives/friends with the highlight on joint "pei nian" to at least 100 schoolmates at Paramount Hotel.

Last but not least, must enjoy the aroma of firecrakers again (although I know is not good for health...may wake up some bad cells if smell at long duration)...but the aroma will inspire and recollect my younger time :)

Missing Links 2

Hi, just to update...after 3 days of the Missing Links 1 post, I still do not receive any response except one unhappy respresentative of Lower Six Art 1 & 2 expressing his/her concern on the listing and alleged that we have labelled them as shadows of the past in the shoutbox for missing them out.... but I did received many SPAM mails though...on how to x-large my PEN, bolstered up BUM or Breasy, lottery from Irish Lottery Commission telling me I hit jackpot worth 10 million pound etc...(hai yah...must meditate on the Secret to have these dreams come true)

Hmmm...coming back on the remark by LSA 1 & 2, I am in fact "awe" and could not believe of what I read as I have mentioned that the list drawn is definitely not exhaustive and further in our another list we have 152 others whom we believe the O.C could locate them whereby we have managed to contact 90 of them and 53 have confirmed attendance, 15 in consideration as they have not firmed up where are they spending their CNY (we continue to entice them to make their decision to attend the Reunion...may be we need to boost up the attraction, if we could promote some nice lucky draw...says...1st prize of 1 way ticket to Macau for two plus 2 night hotel accomodation, 2nd prize - 1 32" Plasma TV, 3rd Prize - ??? Trip to Imperial City).
++++
A bit carried away with the lucky draw...
++++
Well, the list presented in Missing Links 1 contains our frens whom we have not been able to locate and, trust me, whereby we (the main OC) would like to be in touch with them.

We strongly upheld the motto of not to allow any of the stones unturn...we have been searching high and low...though the organising committee has spent invaluable time and resources spent, although I have personally received few very negative/cold reponses and including one said..."liaw si kan" @ waste of time with contrast to majority are every eager and appreciative of this Reunion event (I really "HARD ON" and do appreciate these warm responses).

As I continue to write this blog, I have begun to felt the anguish feelings of leaders of country (those truly carried out their tasks) of the never satisfied feelings of portion of our classmates...Sigh...

But NO,....none of OC members will be discouraged with this negative remark and I sincerely hope and invite this representative to sincerely come forward to introduce himself/herself first and those contacts that he/she may still be with them as this noble act will definitely assist our quest of reaching out to every classmates that we had. You may contact me at mygreatbuds@yahoo.com

20th Anniversary is not wastse of time ! It is a REUNION of Friendship which was first ignited some 20 years back. The spirit of this friendship will continue to live on....till all have passed on..

Have a nice weekend..

20th Anniversary T-Shirt

Oh...no..no..no... not the above.... I have wrongly pasted...:)

It should be the next picture below...hehehe (should have pasted a gorgeous pic instead)

I have earlier put up in my personal blog on this topic as to gather some feedbacks whether we should go ahead to print this t-shirt...well !...the response is good with 13 orders now in two days (our target is 50 shirts at least). With this positive response, I have the courage to put up in this main stage for your order.

This is not a requirement and it is of course on free will basis....a t-shirt for rememberance of our 20th Anniversary....Oh ya...per piece is RM40.00 inclusive of sewing of the logos. There is only one colour as follow...blue green colour showing our evergreen nature...
The front logo to be sew on the left "breast" of the t-shirt is as follow (of course the wording will be corrected as highlighted by Heroes...it should be SHS 88-90 Alumni and a 2008 shall also be paste up there (below the "20th Anniversary" word)
The back part on the top end (3-4 inches below the collar in small word), we will put our blog's address so that everyone will always remember this blog is dedicated to us.

On the right sleeve...it is still blank at this moment and it is reserve for advertisement..anyone interested ?

Please place your order on the reply column and state the quantity you want and the size by latest 18/1/2008 (6.00 pm, Eastern time).

*** Price per piece is RM40.00. FYI, we are still negotiating for best
price from the printer and if we can get bulk discount, the extra will return to
the organising fund of this Reunion 2008....so that we could put in extra
performance....like engaging "pole" or "belly" dancers...phew..wee

It's Nearer To Our Re-Union Day

Imagine...today is 7th of February...tommorow 8th is the day..it is just a month away only ! Phew..weee, can't wait further....the g8t feeling all over...

After months of trumpeting, whistling, pingpongpian, whoot-lai-whoot-kie by one skinny specky guy, 3 thumbs guy, extra buds fella, two reserve soldiers, one self-proclaim skinner and a sweet little gal to garner the support from all our old old frens...favourite question would be...how many old frens would turn up ? !

So far, my records is 50 confirmed attendance (with Poly's confirmation...)...but I believe the figure would have reach 60 by now...(our target is 100..I am confident we will overshoot...) with many in Sibu/Kuching are only reserving their seats as they are not sure where they would be on the 8th of February. Lovely gal is going in next week to Sibu to have the first hand look on the grassroot and hope to sweep all the support from the ladies...(Ladies, please do not be shy anymore especially when you are in your 30's..those still single...please do not let this chance burn as few golden guys are coming on the house...) For sure, we will not leave any stone unturn as what Mr. Tee had reminded.

****

Sharing about passion and commitment to meet old friends, my hat off to Poly who will be coming all the way from KK to meet us in Sibu. Earlier, Hansac also committed with 3 tickets coming all the way from Bintulu....they are basically flying back just to meet us and I doubt they celebrate CNY in Sibu...unless Hansac has a Chinese 4th wife to-be (:)).

I hope sharing this wonderful commitment, many of our old frens would really make every possible effort to be back in Sibu to attend this great Reunion 2008.

Those who are always in Sibu, I just do not know what sort of reasons you will give ...

Tickets are still available...buy one for yourself and another piece for your spouse or your old fren from SHS88-90 whom we may not have been able to contact....

Upper Six Arts 2

For their write-up, Thadeus decided to go the statistical way. Look out for the statistics on the number of persons in the class who admitted they have fallen in love before :)

Book Keeper @ Librarian

If I could remember well, for Form 6's prefect...it is an automatic membership to become a librarian except for the Head Boy. This group photo was taken at the near end of our term as librarian. Siong Mee was the Librarian Head..being the deputy Head Boy.

So...like a minister holding two ministry posts akin to current political holdingship. Being a librarian is a responsibility as to ensure all the users could use the library facility to its optimum capacity beside ensuring all the books referred are checked and placed back to specified shelf.

For those librarian who are in charged of the favourite section, it is definitely a more challenging duty for them @ places like the small room or the front shelf. Whereas the middle shelfs where it contains mostly old story books...hardly any students touched them...so the librarian in charged would have easy job.

Job rotation is scheduled on the monthly roster whereby every Librarian would need to do the station duty. At any one time, three librarians are on duty.

There are definitely of lot of stories from this task @ the unusual attraction of the processing room where the Librarians like to have small get-together there. Then at night, we are the guardian for the night study...taking attendance of the students. Hey, the seat for the night study must be booked in the beginning of the year..like now..priority is for Form 6 and Form 5 students (seniors on the public exam year).

Who can still remember how many seats there are ? :)
****
Opening time (inclusive Public Holidays as long as there are minimum two librarians on duty)
Monday - Sunday : 7.30 a.m to 1.00 p.m
2.30 p.m to 5.00 p.m
6.30 p.m to 10.30p.m

1990 Upper Six Arts 1

Thanks to my younger brother Paul, I managed to get my hands on the 1990 SHS Yearbook, so I was able to scan the photos of the Form 6 classes.

Unfortunately, the quality of the printing that year was a bit poor, so the pics I've scanned came out quite poor. Anyway, here's the one for Upper Six Arts 1:

It was interesting to find out each class was given a page to write about themselves :)

As usual, just click on the image to see the zoomed picture.

A colour version of the photo can also be found here.

Reunion Update

MyGreatBuds asked for the latest update on the ticket sales, so here they are:-

Sibu -- 11 confirmed
Kuching -- 10 plus confirmed
KL -- 10 confirmed (including 2 from Singapore)

So, all in we have 30 plus confirmed participants so far.

Please help to spread the news about the reunion and the blog to all the ex-SHS contacts you have :) Thanks.
