Our New OC for 2009 Reunion

I could not recalled anything was mentioned in the previous blogs after our grand 20th reunion about the new OC.

Thus, do allow me to have the honour to introduce to you our SHS 88-90 Alumni organising chair person for year 2009 - 21st Anniversary, Bartholomew Wong...fondly called by girlfriends..as "Ah Bart" (not the same as Simpson's series.. though the hair does have the likeness...hehehe).

As Heroes and I were busy filling our perut outside (so we didn't vote)...we have learnt that Ah Bart won the 3 corner fights between Ngieng Sii Jing @ "Ah Jing" and Michael Tan @ "Hunyan" with strong majority (Insider news: In fact somebody shouted for my dear Ivy...but she has gracefully decline the nomination but assured everyone with ears that she will be THE chair person for year 2020. In fact, earlier I am also promoting her but on the day of nomination, I accepted her reason and thus keeping silence.)

True to his element of leadership, he had assured the clapping crowd of friends that he shall do his best to organise the 2009 event.

(May be we should create a chairman vest or badge to signify the prestigious post ?)

Red Alert - Mygreatbuds Is Back With Virus Concern

Hi, a short silence is indeed a blessing in a busy month to clear a lot of works...probably due to the fact that it is the shortest month of the year, everything is expedited. Still struggling though to ensure a beautiful result before another month end tomorrow but had to voice out a real concern after experiencing this viral threat ! (grrh)

Do you realise that there are few malicious readers among us (much worst than anonymouses or tp, cww, mt, wkwl and hs all added up..hehehe) ? They have implanted viruses in their replies, encouraging us to click the linked address. Hmm, well, being innocent as usual, I got the warning (beeping) from my anti-virus programme catching the spamming viral activity. So, dear buds.....I hoped all of us do realise such evil approaches....oh dear, as I typed this blog, I am imagining that one could just copy our names and put in the reply....(Pat...boleh..kah...?)

So, any solutions to prevent such malicious activities in our beloved blog ? I have to let our IT geniuses to handle this issue.

For now...I would just need to ensure my anti-virus is up-to-date version....(sigh)

Letter of Appreciation from SHS Principal

Received this from Allen Ngang yesterday via Nationwide Express.

This Used To Be My Playground (Tribute to SHS)

As I was reading Hardy's post on the school yesterday, this song came to my mind.

This used to be my playground (used to be)
This used to be my childhood dream
This used to be the place I ran to
Whenever I was in need
Of a friend
Why did it have to end
And why do they always say

Don't look back
Keep your head held high
Don't ask them why
Because life is short
And before you know
You're feeling old
And your heart is breaking
Don't hold on to the past
Well that's too much to ask

No regrets
But I wish that you
Were here with me
Well then there's hope yet
I can see your face
In our secret place
You're not just a memory
Say goodbye to yesterday (the dream)
Those are words I'll never say (I'll never say)

This used to be my playground (used to be)
This used to be our pride and joy
This used to be the place we ran to
That no one in the world could dare destroy

This used to be our playground (used to be)
This used to be our childhood dream
This used to be the place we ran to
I wish you were standing here with me

Our teachers

When I surf the SHS website, I managed to get this photo. Do you still remember the names of the teachers during our era? Still remember them?

This photo was taken in 1985 and this one

Hugs No oN

It is a worthwhile event !
On the reunion night, we were there at Paramount Hotel at 4.30pm putting through the last touch to the final set up and arrangement. Though the reunion finished at about 10pm, we'd only left the hotel at 12.30 am after final clearance of the accounts (though very much like to attend 2nd round at Tanahmas Hotel with Louis and the gang..Louis, my apology). Time is like nothing though we have worked through solid 8 hours as we have been very happy to see so many old faces and especially some of those we have not seen for the last 18-20 years.

Personally, I felt dissappointed as no hugs or kisses happenings on the night though Mr. Tee had promised to start the ball rolling...but then he was unable to attend as he is down with sickness and WH also escaped. However, a consolation from Heroes as to fake the action with lovely dear.

Hey, also do not have time to chit-chat and catch up with each and everyone of our friends especially our invited teachers. I hope they are happy and taken care off throughout the dinner.

Ah Ted, tommorow night's date is on. What time is our meet up ? To discuss life after 20th reunion ?

Lastly, Happy Valentine Day to all and have a good outing, pleasurable and satisfied evening (Hehehe...)

Unsung Heroes

Behind the scenes, as they always say, there are unsung heroes who have toiled away quietly to make things happen smoothly for everyone. This is never more true in the case of our 2008 reunion.

I may have held the OC title for this year, but the true heroes are those who have worked tirelessly without any complaints for the last six months, despite their busy personal and working lives. Here, I would like to acknowledge each one of them for their contributions:

Stephen Yii
Stephen helped in so many ways I almost don't know where to begin. He helped to kick start the ticket sales and roped in many people to help contact all the old friends. He organized the donation drive and arranged for the reunion t-shirts. He and his wife worked throughout the reunion night itself on the registration and the fund collection. And most of all, he kept encouraging me whenever I felt disheartened.

Eric Phang
Eric helped to contact many people to attend the reunion, and worked with Stephen to plan out the donation and the t-shirts. He also manned the registration counter during the night and did not even have a chance to taste the lovely dinner :)

Joseph Sia
Joseph helped to contact the Sibu friends, and also kindly agreed to be one of the MC's for the night.

Ivy Puah
Ivy was the key catalyst in getting so many ladies to attend, contributed in the planning and was also one of the MC's. Despite personal constraints, she made sure she came to support the event.

Thadeus Ling
Thadeus was the main MC for the night. His warm and funny chatter throughout the night kept everyone in stitches and helped set the mood for the evening :)

David Kuok
David helped to arrange the booking of the venue, and was the key contact in making arrangements with Sibu friends like Allan.

Allan Ngang
Allan was instrumental in ensuring the attendance of a record number of teachers in our gathering. He was also the key contact with the principal of SHS, helping to determine the needs of SHS with regards to the donation drive.

Suhardy Busserah
Suhardy was a key supporter throughout the planning and preparation stages, and he was also responsible for getting many friends like Saing, etc to attend the reunion. He was also the photographer for the night.

David Hii
David kindly contributed RM 200 towards the expenses of the event. He was looking forward to the event, but due to personal constraints had to miss it this year.

John Fam
John contributed RM 100 towards the expenses of the event.

Louis Wong, Vincent Wong, Johnson Wong
All three made contributions towards the expenses of the event.

Louis Wong
Louis helped to contact the friends in Singapore, and also contacted the rugby team gang to attend.

Ing Hee
Ing Hee played an important role in helping Ivy to contact and encourage the ladies to attend the reunion.

Anthony Ting
Anthony contributed 23 bottles of wine for the night for everyone's enjoyment.

Lee Chieng Ming
Chieng Ming kindly agreed to be the auditor to account for all the money collected.

Paul Ting
Paul helped to contact various friends to attend the gathering.

There are probably many more who have also helped in one way or another. To all of you, sincere thanks and appreciation from the bottom of my heart.

I know all of you mentioned above have contributed just for the pure joy of making the event a success, seeing our old friends reunited and sharing the good times once again.

No Webcast

To those who tried to tune in to the webcast of the reunion, my sincere apologies for not making it happen tonight. Due to the chaotic situation of the night, I did not manage to set up the webcast. My humble apologies.

This is The Day!

As MyGreatBuds mentioned, after many months of preparation, today is the day! Looking forward to meeting all the old friends who are coming from near and far to attend this gathering.

For those who are unable to attend and have Internet access, we will be broadcasting tonight via Yahoo Messenger. Just add plingsc@yahoo.com and mygreatbuds@yahoo.com to your friends list. You can chat with long lost friends and also view the gathering live.

See you all there!

Today is Present

Having said, WKWL for the past 8 months or so, we have arrived to this day, our Reunion Dinner scheduled at 6.30 pm at Paramount Hotel, Sibu.

We have in hand slightly more than 100 old friends in attendance and 15 teachers set to bless our 20th Reunion event.

About Sinseh...yeap,...there are 15 of them...and it is going to be largest reunion of all. It is a time to share with them "what, how" we now after 20 years.

I pray for every success to this gathering of all time and definitely it suits Mahatma Gandhi's inspirational words that there is indeed more to life when we live and enjoy at its natural speed. So, let's enjoy every bit of this moment to the fullest.

Rays Of Happiness, Health and Prosperity

Gong Xi Fa Cai

&

May all of us receive all the rays of happiness, health and prosperity in this year of Earthy Rat

It's Party Time

A bit for this post up as I was only back around 12.30 am after boozing with the two fellas and then rush to pack my thing as I am set to drive back to Sibu the same morning at 7.00am.

Well, we had a 12 years old double wood Ballentine, strongly recommend by RAIN lady boss, Lian. It is a very smooth and even Heroes known to never even finish 1 glass, had 2 glasses without realising it. Ah Ted who had sore throat also gulp up few....and me..ahemm...

Ah Ted being our OLD Head Boy of our 1990...had the priviledge to receive the first "20th Anniversary" t-Shirt. Well, it is a yellow one instead of a blue...due to no sizes for the later colour.

From the face expression, he is much delighted (hope not because of the 12 years old effect of whiskey, as by then I started my 3 glass).

We also discussed on the programme for the reunion night just to get few things in order so that I could also put forth some thought on the following afternoon as I am set to have one discussion with Pat, Joe and Allan.

In fact, in Sibu, we had the discussion yesterday afternoon at 4.00pm at Mcdonald. A fruitful 2 hours discussion that managed to resolve few issues. We will had another final one when all the key committee members are in Sibu.

My another challenge is to make a "SHS 88-90 Alumni" stamp on this morning (eve of Chinese New Year). Basically, both Heroes and I will check around town to see where we can make it.

Chiau first...as my parents chasing me to go out "marketing".
