Suhardy's Jr

Sweet Baby BoyA new baby boy,
so tiny and sweet,
Makes hearts overflow and life complete.
From the time he is just hours old,
You feel his charm and spirit unfold.
There will be jammies and blankets of blue,
Overalls, teddies and adorable shoes.
There will be trucks and all kinds of toys,
Clanging and banging and all kinds of noise.
There will be chubby legs to chase,
Blocks to build and cars to race.
There will be handprints on walls and doors,
There will be dirt and messes galore.
Hold his hands, memorize his face,
Savor his kisses, remember his embrace.
Delight in his giggles,
join in his fun,
Tuck him in tight when each day is done.
A baby boy is a dream come true,
Life's greatest miracle given to you.
Fill your days will all the joy,
Brought to you by your bundle of boy.

Do you guys notice that quite a number of Sarawakian Malays have Chinese look?

I have been asked the question ("que na li?") by taxi drivers far too often. (I thought it was spelt "chi na li" until my wife, who knows a little bit of Mandarin, pointed out the correct spelling).

Hansac, talking about chinese face...it is true when I have few times confused when ordering drinks at KLCC (Kuching Local Coffee Centres)...when I say in Hokkien or Foochow/mandarin,...they replied...apa ? when I speak in Malay...they replied... "ser mo ? (what do you want ?) "

Now smarter...speak England, brother...then wait for their reply, then tune myself in.

I have a Malay friend and he really look like a chinese. One day, when we were in a coffee shop and a china man who introduce himself as a fortune teller (i understand what he say but my friend not)came asking my Malay friend whether he want to try or not. My friend just kept quiet and the china man sat beside him and start talking.....I also sat there listen and not informing the china man that my friend was not understand what he said. After 10 to 15 minutes, my friend reply the china man and say, "APA?"................ I was about to laugh but the china man had walked away....:)

Ha ha...I can really relate to this topic.

My 1st year with Bank Utama in Sibu, I had a Malay colleague who is very chinese-looking, Abg Zarazella (shs boy 6yrs our senior). And for as long as I can remember, no one has ever felt I look chinese.

So these foochow ah mu & ah pek wld come to the counter & start talking to Abg Z, totally ignoring me. Abg Z wld just keep quiet, when they finish talking, I wld be the one answring them. Sometimes, the customers are so perplexed tht they cn't comprehend tht I'm speaking foochow to them, so they turn to Abg Z again and repeat wht they just said!!! Totally hilarious!

Other incidents are when I'm at a govt dept and I can see how the Malay staff thinks that I'm such a snob for using Eng and not speaking local Malay with them...until they see my IC.

Man, my ancestors must have been a mixed-up bunch cos neither my brother nor sister looks chinese either.
