Music is up!

Finally, after three nights of working on it, and stealing some company time today as well, I managed to put up the 80's music on the sidebar.

Thanks and credit goes to Hansac, in the end I used his technique of using Radio Blog to do it. It took me a while to find an online storage site that is willing to host rbs files and also allow direct file links (three cheers for www.hotlinkfiles.com!)

For a start, I have put up the golden classic of our Form 2 year, We Are The World by USA for Africa. I need to convert every mp3 to rbs and upload to hotlinkfiles, a process that takes 20 minutes for each file.

So, any requests from anyone on what they want to hear? I have on my hard disk more than 1000 songs from the 80's :)

Note on how to use the player - press play, then once the track starts to pre-load, press the pause button to stop the music and wait for the full track to load (you can see the progress by the grey bar over the song title). This way, you will be able to enjoy the song without any interruptions due to slow internet speed.

Speaking of speed, please note each song is about 3 to 4 MB, so it may take a while to load. If you all prefer smaller size file with lower quality, do let me know so that I can adjust it.

If anyone wants the actual mp3's please drop me a mail.

Last Day Of The Month Again

Remember how time really pass real fast, and today is the last day of July 2007. Being month-end, there are a lot of expectations personally and publicly (or I say our corporate requirement).

Personally...it is a happy time as "gaji" dah masuk and again we will live like a "King". Starting a new month is always a interest to me as if like new year. Imagine the 1st day of the next month is coming along, a fresh start to finish what we have left over last month or starting a new action to achieve.

Corporately, today is extra strenous due to unresolved budget chasing...(but still ular a bit to write this new post..he..he). The 1st week of new month is also stressful as need to submit the report of last month activities...cracking heads on how to convince management on how hard I have performed. Positively, a new month meaning starting a new beginning again redoing all the budget stuff again with another opportunity to hit the jackpot.

In school time, I feel differently...everyday is a "happy time" as long as no exam. Always looking forward to play 3 minus 1 at Heroes' house, squash, cycling to nobody's land (I mean to the ulus...), sun-bathing at Lanang's beach,...etc.. So, monthend or early month does not make a different in those golden days.

Gosh..I miss those happy days (except exams)...It is 9am already..got to go know and chase my premiums for last surge of the budget !

Blog Upgrade

At Hansac's behest, I have upgraded our SHS blog to the latest template :) With the upgrade, it is now easier to add new features to the blog.

For a start, I have added a shoutbox for everyone to post short messages to each other, and also a list of recent comments for everyone to keep track of all the comments flying around.

Coming soon are mp3 players with 80's songs, site counters and most recent visitors list.

About the reunion name list, sorry I have not got around to doing it yet, rest assured it will be ready soon :)

Until then, happy blogging!

Negarakuku?

Check out the link below on the version of Negaraku sang by Mr Wee Meng Chee (http://www.namewee.com/)

Negarakuku: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NczMNH0dbEQ

He re-make our patriotic song, Negaraku into a rap version and now is being sued! http://felixker.com/news/negarakuku-got-sued/

Does that re-make shows he is a less patriotic person?

Keep Your Brain Alive

Lately, I'm beginning to wonder whether I'm experiencing memory lapses. Particularly when a friend of mine mentioned that we once slow-danced together during our teenage days, and try as hard as I might, I simply have no recollection of the event.

You might say it's no big deal not remembering a dance with some guy donkey years ago, but what a waste not to remember it when my dancing partner was (and still is) a hunk of a guy!! How could my brain have decided to put that piece of memory into the "un-retrievable archives" without my permission?!

So here's what I know about our minds (I prefer using the word "mind" iso "brain") - other than being separated into the right and left sides - there are trillions of nerve cells in our mind called neurons (micro-chips if you like), and each neuron has a dozen or so dendrites attached to it. Dendrites are tiny wiry legs that connect the neurons. Everytime we choose to put something or someone into our memory - either consciously or unconsciously - a dendrite from 2 or more neurons will connect to "store" the info. The number of connections that are created in order to capture that info will depend on the number of body senses we use at the point of the event - visual, auditory, touch, smell and taste.

Switching on just one "connection" of the dendrites will trigger off a series of other connections. And thus our hunky friend's memory of the slow-dance also brought back the smell and taste of the chicken wings. The less new connections we create among the dendrites of the neurons in our minds, the "older" and weaker our minds become. There is now something called neuro-bics....get it? For more info, get the book by Lawrence C.Katz (Ph.D.) & Manning Rubin titled the same as this post.

Oh....for those of us who were born in 1971, now you have a better idea of how your "tu-now" works!

Power of Focus

Guys...I have reading a lot of John Maxwell books (after my wife's recommendation ! ;) ) nearly all of them up to the latest book.."Talent is not enough". One of the chapter was about focus !

When a person focus on certain goals @ says you wanna to buy a black BMW 5 Series in the next few days..it seems that the wonderful BM just following you as you turn one corner you met one, when you park your old car, another one just beside your parking lot...

Guess what, I have experienced this many times and today there is another round of such experience...as we were "hot" with our friends and reunion focus,...I met up with 3 of our classmates (those I have not met for years..one is about 17 years) in the span of half an hour, I recorded all their handphones and informed them of our blog (in fact I have sent out sms to all our friends that I have their hp no...hopefully they will join in our fun..and get the reunion focus hotter), reunion etc...all seems to be interested and committed to join in.. Thanks to the Almighty.

One great man of Ancient Rome says...if you want to achieve your goals as much you need Air, your goal will surely be achievable ! (Think about the time that we are drowning in water...and our focus is only one..to have air/live on...we desperately gasping for the precious AIR..if we could struggle through, we will continue to live on...if not...don don chian !)

So, guys, set your focus, your dreams will just build up slowly in front of you..turning into reality !

Suggestion On The Forthcoming Reunion Dinner

Pat called me up the other night that he wanted to plan earlier for the forthcoming Reunion Dinner which will be held in our home school town, Sibu. As to get everyone of us here to get involve in the preliminary stage of the function, he urged us to assist him to promote it especially to our female classmates. The best person I would think of to assist on the female side is our lovely Ivy. Though your task is tough but achieveable with your total commitment and determination. As for guys side, I would suggest all of us here to be committee including our Warhammer (Hammer Time) in order to get the most number of people to attend the function. But before finalising the venue, date, time etc.... here I would appreciate it if all of us here could contribute your precious suggestions to our chairman, pat in order for him to organise a great and memorable reunion we ever had.

Dos' & Don'ts' in Blogging

Observing the latest development to our beloved SHS8890 blog, it is a very interesting, satisfying feeling as it has never been better from a year plus ago...Well done everybody...

Nevertheless, I am a bit worry as names and some sensitivities have been raised for the meaning of "fun" may or would have gone over board. To few of us, we may take it as fun but to others..having not been with them for the past 17/19 years...things could be different especially if correspondences are with unknown sources...one could be a Bush man or Osama's brother or MP's bodyguard...who knows...

***Please read Borneo Post front page today on blogging issues...though our contents have not reach to that extent...but do be extra careful..(b.c.c)

I do not have the actual list of dos' or don'ts (may be, Pat could put a safety net on this) but I guess, one need to be principally and intelligently alert as to ensure the comments are genuine and within limit without damaging others' dignity or touching sensitive issues.

However, by all means, please do not limit your creativity and fun, go all out to input great humour with preservation of true respect and dignity at all times...

Keep your humour flowing...as it really lighten up things...

Mars vs Venus

If any of you have been reading the comments at "New Kids on the Blog" and "SHS crushes", you'll know that the guys and me were engaged in a pillow fight of sexes yesterday. All in healthy contribution to the blog, I must say though.

To set the records straight (not that it was bent in the 1st place), I think Sie Chiong deserves thunderous applause for having created the blog - not everyone puts their thoughts into action and makes it a reality. He has helped gather everyone together...including Casper the friendly ghost who is warring away with his hammer.

All said, I hope my grand entree will get the Venus counterparts of SHS 89-90 to at least start READING the blog. You girls are missing out on how they salivated, drooled and fantasized over us.....well, maybe not me. Life wouldn't have been as interesting for the hungry Martians of SHS had we not entered their school on the first day of L6 and allowed them to strip us naked with their eyes. Man, they just loved us!!

On a more subdued note, Frankie's passing has made me much more appreciative of this blog. For some reasons, the guys seem to have a much stronger bondage after leaving school. Wish I could say the same for the ladies...I'm sure we all have valid reasons. Yet, we did spend the best years of our lives together, isn't that worth the effort of keeping in touch and getting ourselves to the reunion?

Nowadays Teachers Need Counselling??

There was an infamous 'soaking' incident at SMK Bawang Assan, Sibu, Sarawak in which about 200 female students were forced by the warden to squat in a murky pond for one hour. The reason of the punishment was to punish the students who repeatedly clogged the toilets with their sanitary pads. This action or punishment has drawn nationwide condemnation and protests from ministers and parents.

Everyone of us had been a student before and me either, I personally think that the punishment was too harsh and could seriously demoralise the students as a human. I do agreed that sometimes teachers do feel pressured, a few perhaps reach a point where they feel like 'bursting'but she had acted outside the official guidelines. As a warden or teacher, he/she was supposed to protect and assist the students beside being a substitute parent and not instead abused the power.

Maybe nowadays teachers need to be well trained and even proper counselling in order to adopt the correct approach in dealing with indiscipline among the students. Don't you think so that teachers must set fine examples to fellow students?? They are all trained as a professional and should act professionally in tackling the problem of indiscipline among students.

What would the proper action to be taken against the warden?

SHS girl crushes?

My 1st experience holding a girl hand.....lower six loh. Hei...i remember now...i also crush with ?? (a year senior, fxxx forgot her name...crush mah...how can remember name till today)..staying at Rambutan Lane. My heart skips a bit and another part hardened whenever we were waiting for our own transport. U know she stands at one side of the gate (outside Albinus house) while i stand at the other side.....ah hem...pretending to be gentleman mah. Me too shy to talk to her but managed to pick up guts to write her a letter of which she replied, 'Ah Tee, next time u meet me, just identify urself and I will give u sweet!' Needless to say....do I ever identified myself to her?

SHS gangster?

Just where is the value of student nowadays? Not to mention those students are from SHS and Methodist? Indeed those schools are high achievers in all field but I personally think the achieving field tend to skew towards producing gangster! Shame on you boys! Shame on you! It is disgusting for us seniors to view this kind of event.

Baby Boom plus Choices To Pick

Our friend, John Wong @ Hamilton, NZ sends his warmest regards to all. I am pleased to hear from him after a while since early this year and he will be back soon.

Just to keep you all updated, I am happy to hear that he is looking forward to his 2nd baby...and just this morning, I hv learnt that another friend, Anthony is waiting for his 3rd one very soon..

So far, the max is still 3 babies/child as far I know among our friends (but learnt that Audrey has 5 ???)...always felt good to hear all are productive as to support Tun Dr. M's 70 million mission...let's see who is going for the 4th one soon.

Mr. Tee, you are on par 3.
Ah Yaw also at par 3
Pat, you are right track but better catch up..
Eric, you are still not eligible yet..

Again with John Wong in his email, I am motivated by his words as follow;

" When we wake up in the morning, we have two simple choices,
a) Go back to sleep and dream, or
b) wake up and chase those dreams,

Choice is yours…."

Yes, indeed, we have the choice...even no choice is a choice..

It is ours to decide...

"Heroes" - TV Series

From creator/writer Tim Kring (NBC's "Crossing Jordan") comes "Heroes," an epic drama that chronicles the lives of ordinary people who discover they possess extraordinary abilities. As a total eclipse casts its shadow across the globe, a genetics professor, Mohinder Suresh(Sendhil Ramamurthy, "Blind Guy Driving") in India is led by father's disappearance to uncover a secret theory -- there are people with super powers living among us. A young dreamer, Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia, "Gilmore Girls") tries to convince his politician brother, Nathan Petrelli (Adrian Pasdar, "Judging Amy") that he can fly. A high school cheerleader, Claire Bennet (Hayden Panettiere, "Ice Princess") learns that she is totally indestructible. A Las Vegas stripper, Niki Sanders (Ali Larter, "Final Destination"), struggling to make ends meet to support her young son, Micah Sanders (Noah Gray-Cabey, "My Wife & Kids"), discovers that her mirror image has a secret. A fugitive from justice (Leonard Roberts, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer") continues to baffle authorities who twice have been unable to contain him. A gifted artist, Isaac Mendez (Santiago Cabrera, "Empire"), whose drug addiction is destroying his life and relationship with his girlfriend, Simone Deveaux (Tawny Cypress, NBC's "Third Watch"), can paint the future. A down-on-his-luck Los Angeles beat cop, Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg, "Alias") can hear people's thoughts, which puts him on the trail of an elusive serial killer. In Japan, a young man, Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka, NBC's "Scrubs") develops a way to stop time through sheer will power. Their ultimate destiny is nothing less than saving the world…
This TV series is the best I had ever watched so far and strongly recomended to all of you.
