'95 Reunion Photo

I am learning from scratch how to scan a photo, convert it into a .jpeg file, and then post it on this blog. Can everyone please bear with me for the moment, I know it's probably something to do with the scanning...anyone want to offer me some advice? I've decided to just let it be till I re-do the scanning. You can see the enlarged picture when you click on it, so what the heck!

This photo was taken at the 1995 reunion, I can't remember which hotel, should be Tanahmas...

Hi Ivy, congrats on a fantastic first effort! I'm really happy to see your active participation *wide smile*

About the photo, after checking the post I realized that you have posted the entire scanned file. What usually needs to be done is to "crop" the scan, i.e. cut out the areas that are not required and save the photo again.

How do you do cropping? Well, firstly you need to install a photo editing program. You can choose one from this web page : http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/pixelbasedwin/tp/freephotoedw.htm

All of them are equally good, but I usually use Adobe Photoshop (pirate copy, hehe).

Here are the steps to do cropping:-

1. After you have installed the program, use the program to open your scanned photo.

2. Then, search and select the command that lets you draw a rectangle - it usually looks like a dotted rectangle.

3. After you have selected the command, you can draw a rectangle on the photo. The area inside the rectangle is the part you want to keep, the area outside is what you want to cut out.

4. Search and select the Crop command. The program will now remove the area outside the rectangle.

5. Save the photo again using a different name (use the Save As command in the File menu).

That's it :)

Wow, that photo really brought back memories, everyone still looked very much like they were during the SHS days :)

Heroes,
Back then that was the popular hair style....now in the 21st century....less hair is the latest fashion. Buldging tummy is another well known trend to follow. U shd say FORTUNATELY u were not there!

Pat,
Is it possible to show the archive my subject titles rather than month? It just make the searching part easier. As for picture cropping, maybe u post ur instruction under a new title? ;)

I can recognize John Fam and Mr. Tee in that picture. Also can recognize two other faces but do not remember their names.

WHICH ONE'S IVY WHICH ONE'S IVY WHICH ONE'S IVY ???!!!

Mr Tee said...

Ya lah. Which one is you Ivy? :)

Ivy - good job! :)

Mr Tee - will do another article about basic photo editing these few days for all the newbies (I'm actually not an expert myself, hehe :) ). About the articles list on the side bar, I will see what I can do, probably need to change some coding.

Hansac, I'm curious - how do u knw which one is me in d photo I put on my profile???

Tee, u dare call yourself my...what's that..."life-long body guard"?? - and can't find me in the pic. Didn't I say b4 that I'm ALWAYS at the end of a row...?

Ivy: I matched that picture with the librarians' picture.

Me clever or not!!!

Ivy said...

Aahhh...very clever, although I still can't understand how that's possible. But it wld be fun if you mistook me for somebody else!

Ivy,
Great job!
Sooooo...u know what to do lah. Post some more pics. I don't know whether Hansac really knew which one is u. Let him guessing and searching.

I guess this is most gathered ladies in the history of our Reunion Gathering...I guess the organiser for that year was Ah Too...the ladies seems so pure and innocent...

Where am I ? Aa.aa.if this is 95, I were still in my final year in Bangi...

Ivy said...

Most welcome, John...Fam. Aiya, I dunno how to say yr name without yr surname - tht was how we used to call u back in the 2nd Sibu days.

It's intriguing to me that I have these "patches of life" at different periods of my life whr I knw one or the other among you guys:-

John-scout/guides (5yrs+!!)
Paul-early wrkg yrs (95-96)
K.Say-Form 1/2 partying days

....and I didn't end up marrying a SHS boy, how fortunate....heh heh, nah....I meant how UN-fortunate, since u're all such gentlemen.

I was in the photo. I am younger and slimer that what I am now. Just finished a report and I can steal some time to drop a line.

Ivy,
U got our date wrong...shd be 89/90 when we r librarians mah! Always covering ur MIA day which was(still is??) 25th Perhaps Siong Mee and Joseph Sia can confirm that.

William...r u the one in Adelaide? Sorry...after SHS....many of us have added Christian name.

Anonymous said...

Mr. Tee,
Yes. I think there is only one William in our year.

Ivy said...

Really?? Hmmm...I really have memory lapses of SHS days. In my head, the 95-96 period was more significant...we were no longer in sch, had our own lives, but were friends among a diffrnt grp of people.

Whoever told u that our "MIA" falls on the same day every month must have been a guy...

Mr Tee said...

Ivy,
No, the MIA is based on the librarian record book...remember, we had to count the books after school bell marking the end of school while one of us would be stationed at the 'bar' counter to record the attendance?? ;)

So ain't a guy who told us but we decided the date after feeling 'exhausted' for filling up for the MIA person! Ha!

William, register urself with this blog. Great to have u back!
